Why the ducts

A new AC can't fix a leaking duct.

In many Waco houses the ducts run through the attic — the hottest place in the building all summer. A loose connection there pours cooled air into the attic, and a crushed run starves the room at the end of it.

So before we recommend new equipment, we look at the ducts and write down what we find. You get the same report whether you go ahead or not.

How the report works

  • Ducts and connections checked on every system visit
  • Room airflow compared, not guessed
  • A written report you keep
  • Repair first, replacement only when it's due

Questions

Straight answers.

Why is one room always hotter than the rest?

Usually the duct to that room: disconnected, crushed, leaking or undersized, or the room has no way for air to get back to the return. We measure the airflow and inspect the duct and tell you which it is.

What is in a duct report?

Six items: leakage, airflow to rooms, return air, insulation, supports and routing, and cleanliness. Each gets a letter grade and a plain note on what we saw. You keep the report whether or not you go ahead with any work.

Do I need a new AC unit?

Sometimes, but not always. Leaking or disconnected ducts can make a working system look like a failing one. We check the ducts before recommending new equipment.

Do you work on businesses as well as homes?

Yes. Offices, shops, restaurants, clinics and churches: rooftop units, split systems, ductwork above the ceiling and maintenance plans.

Does Crossway do surface or coating work?

No. Surface Services is part of the business name, not the trade. Crossway does heating, ventilation and air conditioning only.

Which areas do you cover?

Waco, Hewitt, Woodway, Robinson, Bellmead, Lacy Lakeview, McGregor and China Spring.
